Roku

Streaming device · Roku OS

Roku works with IPTV, but differently from Fire TV or Android TV: Roku OS doesn't support sideloading, so you'll use an IPTV player channel available in the Roku Channel Store instead.

Compatibility

Roku's operating system is closed to sideloading in the way Fire OS and Android TV are, which is the single biggest difference for IPTV setup. Instead, a small number of IPTV-focused channels are published in the official Roku Channel Store, built specifically to accept M3U playlists or Xtream Codes logins within Roku's app model. It's a more limited selection than Android-based platforms, but it does work without any workaround.

Setup overview

  1. Open the Channel Store on your Roku home screen
  2. Search for an IPTV player channel (e.g. an M3U/Xtream-compatible app)
  3. Add the channel to your device
  4. Open it and enter your playlist URL or Xtream Codes credentials
